Kris Kristofferson's Beard

So this past Sunday, I proposed to my girlfriend (burnpianoburn) live on stage after my set was over in front of 100+ people. I never thought it possible to make 50+ people cry while telling a story and relating our entire relationship to Andrew WK, but sure enough, it happened. This is that proposal.

Here’s the full story though: I had been planning this out for about a year. I knew it was going to happen at the 1 year anniversary of The Sunday Night Joyride event at Howler’s Coyote Cafe in Pittsburgh which I host. It took 1 private Facebook event invite which I told our closest friends exactly what was happening, 3 decoy public Facebook event invites to throw her off the scent, and the planning of the woman you see first in the video (“Mama Jo,” as I call her). Mama Jo cooks all the vegan food for the event and sends bands my way for the event when I have open slots and can’t find anybody to play one. It was her suggestion of me calling her up onstage to thank her for all her hard work and then she would demand Jessica (or Iron Betty to fans of her vegan sweets) to come up onstage to thank her for all her hard work and that’s when I did it. She had no idea it was happening and it went on perfectly.

In telling you all this, I do have a favor to ask. I want you to reblog this video as best you can. I’m hoping that there’s a chance that Andrew WK might actually see this video if it generates enough buzz, because we want him to play our wedding. If it does get to him and he can’t/refuses to do it, so be it, but we at least want him to know that vicariously because of him we’re now getting married. He brought us together and now we’re going to “Do what we like and like what we do” for the rest of our lives.
